Development shows it means business with 4,000 jobs on the horizon
Wednesday 27th July 2011
The start of a major new business park development could potentially mean half a billion pounds of business investment for Lincolnshire.

On Wednesday 27 July, a ground-breaking ceremony marked the official start of the Teal Park development in North Hykeham, near Lincoln. The project will see the creation of one of the largest business parks in the East Midlands, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
Councillor Eddy Poll, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, said:
“Teal Park has the potential to attract £500m of business investment over the next 10 to 15 years. That equates to around 4,000 jobs. This will not only bolster our manufacturing and construction industries, but should also lead to opportunities for highly-skilled workers as well. We’ve already taken an important first step towards success in persuading Siemens to relocate to the site. I’m sure that many other businesses will follow.”
Robin Taylor, Director of the site developer Taylor Lindsey Limited, added:
“We are very pleased to have reached this point in the development of Teal Park. The development is of a size which makes it of regional significance and the decision by Siemens to relocate part of their business to Teal Park is a major boost to the development and the city itself.
“We have worked closely with both Lincolnshire County Council and North Kesteven District Council over the last five years to bring the scheme forward. Having now obtained planning permission for 1.3 million sq. ft. of development we hope that it will make a major contribution to Lincoln’s future economic growth”.
The business park will also include a hotel and leisure facilities and will incorporate conservation zones to protect local wildlife. As part of the development, the surrounding highways network will be improved, as will public transport links.
The sole marketing agents for the site will be Hodgson Elkington LLP the Lincoln-based commercial agents who have worked closely with Taylor Lindsey and the county council in bringing this project forward.
Senior partner Sam Elkington commented:
“With the completion in 2012 of the A46 dual carriageway link to the M1 between Newark and Leicester and the improvements around the Lincoln bypass the site will now be a major strategic location with excellent connections to the national road network. Lincoln will have a direct dual carriageway link to both the A1 and M1 which will give the county an edge it has not enjoyed before.
“The Siemens relocation will undoubtedly be the catalyst to a number of businesses establishing themselves on Teal Park and we have already received a number of encouraging enquiries before ground has actually been broken”.
Teal Park is being developed through a partnership between the established Lincoln-based commercial and residential developer Taylor Lindsey and Lincolnshire County Council. May Gurney will be carrying out the highway improvement works, which are scheduled to be completed in Autumn 2012.Events
